JLG 1200SJP 120 ft Boom Lift Rental in Ankleshwar, Complete Guide for 2026

Some jobs in the Ankleshwar and Bharuch corridor are not about reaching a rooftop or a warehouse ceiling. They are about getting a person and their tools up past a ten storey process structure, around a pipe rack, and onto a platform that most machines cannot even see. That is the job our JLG 1200SJP was bought for, and for a long time it was the tallest boom lift in our fleet. Our Genie S125 has since taken that title at 125 feet, though the 1200SJP remains the backbone of our tall access work.

What The JLG 1200SJP Actually Is

The 1200SJP is a telescopic boom lift, which means the arm extends straight out rather than folding at a knuckle the way an articulating boom does. Ours runs a platform height of 120 feet, which works out to a working height of 126 feet once you add the reach of a person standing in the basket. Horizontal outreach is 75 feet, so it can sit well back from a structure and still put a technician exactly where the work is.

What sets it apart from a plain telescopic boom is the jib at the end of the main arm. It swings 180 degrees and articulates through 130 degrees of its own, so once you are up at height you can still reach up and over a beam, a pipe run or a vessel without repositioning the whole machine. That is the difference between finishing a job in one lift and finishing it in four.

Full Specifications

  • Platform height: 120 ft (36.58 m)
  • Working height: 126 ft
  • Horizontal outreach: 75 ft (22.86 m)
  • Platform capacity: 500 lb unrestricted, 1,000 lb restricted
  • Jib rotation: 180 degrees horizontal, 130 degrees of articulation
  • Swing: 360 degrees continuous
  • Drive: 4WD, diesel engine, 3.3 mph travel speed
  • Gradeability: 45 percent
  • Machine weight: around 40,900 lb
  • Ground bearing pressure: 99 psi

That last figure matters more than people expect. A machine this size puts real load through its tyres, so the ground it drives and sets up on needs to actually take that weight. We check this on every site before the machine rolls in, not after.

The Work It Is Actually Used For

Most of our 1200SJP bookings come from process plants and petrochemical sites across the GIDC belt, places where a structure simply outgrows a 65 foot or even an 80 foot boom lift. Flare stack inspection, work on elevated pipe racks, access to the top of a reactor or column, cable and instrumentation runs strung high across a plant, and steelwork on a structure that is still being built all come up regularly. If the job needs you looking down on a four storey building rather than up at it, this is usually the machine for it.

We have also sent it out for high bay warehouse work where the racking or ceiling runs well past what a standard boom lift covers, though for anything under about 80 feet it is usually cheaper and faster to book one of our smaller units instead.

Why The Jib Changes How A Job Gets Done

A straight telescopic boom without a jib is excellent at height and distance, but it struggles the moment you need to tuck in behind or above an obstacle. The jib on the 1200SJP solves that. Once the main boom has you at height, the jib lets you swing the platform up and over a beam or around a vessel without dropping back down and repositioning the whole machine from ground level. On a busy plant floor where every repositioning move means stopping, checking clearances and moving again, that saves real time across a working day.

Site Requirements Before We Bring It In

This is a big, heavy machine and it needs firm, reasonably level ground to set up safely. We ask about ground type, any underground services or trenches near the work area, and overhead obstructions before confirming a booking. The 4WD drivetrain and 45 percent gradeability mean it handles a rougher plant yard better than most aerial platforms, but it still needs a genuine path in and a stable base once it gets there.

Access width is also worth checking early. At just over 8 feet wide and close to 45 feet long in transport configuration, it needs a clear route through gates and between existing structures before it reaches the work area.

How Rental Works For This Machine

Because the 1200SJP is a specialised, premium unit, most bookings run by the week or for the length of a project rather than a single day, though day rates are available for short jobs. Tell us the height you need to reach, roughly how long the work will take, and the site conditions, and we will quote accordingly rather than pushing you toward whichever rate suits us better.

Every booking comes with a trained operator. A machine at this height and weight is not something we hand over on trust, and our operators run it the same way on every site regardless of how familiar the job looks.

If your job needs height but not this much of it, our Genie S65 boom lift covers most warehouse and plant work up to 65 feet at a lower cost. If the job is about lifting heavy loads rather than putting a person at height, our crane rental guide covers what we run for that instead.

Questions We Get Asked Often

Is the 1200SJP your tallest boom lift?

Not anymore. Our Genie S125 now holds that spot at 125 feet platform height. The 1200SJP remains an excellent choice at 120 feet, and for most work below 80 feet we would actually recommend a smaller unit, since it costs less to run and is easier to get on site.

Can it work close to overhead structures?

Yes, that is exactly what the jib is for. It lets the platform tuck up and over beams, pipe racks and vessels once the main boom is at height, so you are not fighting the machine to get into position.

What ground does it need?

Firm and reasonably level ground able to take close to 100 psi of bearing pressure under the tyres. We check this before every booking, and if your site is uncertain we can talk through it on the phone before the machine ever leaves the yard.

Do you supply the operator?

Yes, every booking includes a trained operator who runs the machine for the full duration of the hire.
